2016-2017 FRHS Drama Achievements

• Outstanding production of Nick Dear’s Frankenstein only two weeks after Denver Theatre Company closed the North American premiere – we produced the high school North American premiere!
• Top four finalists in Denver Center for the Performing Arts  Regional High School Playwriting Workshop and Competition for Colorado high-school students.  His work was selected from 132 submissions  Read the DCPA article here

• We had a record 5 students qualify for the International Thespian Festival with their performances at the 2016 Colorado State Thespian Conference. Students are evaluated by a panel of professional judges on a standards-based rubric.

• Our inaugural One Act submission to the Colorado State Thespian Conference was awarded Chapter Select Showcase!  Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone? has been chosen as the state of Colorado’s best One Act and will perform at the International Thespian Festival in June 2017

• Our Improv Team has received the highest marks at the Colorado State Thespian Conference for the second year in a row!

• FRHS goes to Broadway!  Four chaperones and seventy-six students traveled to New York City!  Students trained with professional conductors and then performed at Carnegie Hall.  We workshopped with a cast member from Hamilton, toured NBC Studios, New York Film Academy, and Radio City Music Hall.  We saw several Broadway shows and took in sights and sounds of the Big Apple.

• Our inaugural submission to the DCPA Bobby G Awards receives two nominations!  The Addams Family directed by Deana Kochis, John Garner, and Bri McCormick  is nominated for Best Actor and for Best Costume Design!  Read about the Bobby G Awards here
